The South Korean company NCSOFT announced its intentions to create four subsidiaries and allocate three of them, teams dedicated to games, and a division developing artificial intelligence. We are talking about the developers of such games as MMORPG Throne and Liberty, MMO shooter LLL, MMO RTS TACTAN: Knights of the Gods. The move will “make the most of the creativity and initiative of independent companies and thereby lay the foundation for sustainable growth.”
The choice of these teams is due to the fact that Throne and Liberty continues to provide stable services since its global launch on October 1, 2024, and LLL and TACTAN: Knights of the Gods are projects with “high potential for success and competitiveness.”
NC Research, NCSoft’s artificial intelligence research and development division, will be spun off into a new company, NC AI (tentative name). The company will develop VARCO LLM, which is actively used in game development, and other business areas.
NCSOFT will hold an extraordinary meeting of shareholders on November 28 to confirm the creation of the new companies, with a completion date of February 1, 2025. After this, NCSOFT itself will implement employee redeployment and voluntary retirement programs.
