The choice of a computer chair is a procedure similar to the selection of components to a specific budget. In the era of the dominance of bulky and often uncomfortable “gaming buckets”, comfortable, ergonomic, breathing solutions imprisoned for human anatomy are gaining all the great popularity. Today, Freelancer W8, one of the top models of the well -known Zone 51 brand in Russia, got into our editorial office.
Freelancer W8 is supplied in a large box, which indicates the concept of the chair “Durability-ergonomics-resistance”, confirmed by a three-year guarantee. A bulky box weighs thirty kilograms. You did not eat Jack Reacher, then you should think from transportation in advance. All structural elements are individually packed in boxes and plastic bags. The assembly tool (two appliances, 8 bolts and 4 self-tapping screws) is packed in a blister and has an understandable marking and instructions.

The assembly is extremely simple. In Frelancer W8 there are no hard -to -reach attaching places than computer chairs often sin, and the process itself is described in detail in the instructions. The adjustment unit is attached to the seat by four bolts. The armrests are attached to the back along the guides and fixed with powerful levers, along the way, special traffic limiters crash. Then the back is screwed to the seat with four more screws. Next, we cross the lower part of the chair, which does not require the tool. Wheels are inserted into a five -pointed base, and gaslift is installed on top. Next, we insert one structure (back-blue-block-block-block) into another (base-wheel-gazlift). At the last stage, we fasten the headrest and finally tear off the sticker from the logo. The process is completed. It took me about half an hour.
The most “complex” in the pictures
Already in the process of assembly, materials and design are striking in the eye. The main “working surface” is a three -layer breathing sandwich: a pleasant waterproof fabric on top, a strong mesh in the role of the main from the bottom and the soft orthopedic foam between them. The back of the chair is not just a grid stretched over the guides. It is attached to the monumental frame combining steel, composites and futuristic design with hexagonal holes. There is an air pocket between the net and the back.
I must it that the photo on the official website does not give a complete idea of the breathing surface – on them the chair looks more likely ordinary fabric, but this is not so. In practice, the surface looks something like this:
The chair has a large range of adjustments. You can configure the height (range of 460mm-560mm) and an armchair tilt (90-140 degrees), with the possibility of switching between a fixed position and rolling. The depth (departure) of the seat can also be changed, which will allow it to adapt it under the feet. In addition, there is custom -made for the cervical spaces (2D headrest) and lumbar (4 steps). Separately, I would like to talk about four -position armrests.
The armrests are made of a plastic material textured for carbon, however, a layer of soft filler is felt under the top layer, designed to reduce the load on the elbows. The outer surface is pleasant to the touch, which is not inclined to pollution and damage, and at first glance it looks strong (I think many of you are familiar with the bursting dermantine or solid plastic, rubbing the elbows).
The armrests are attached to the back (and not to the seat, as is most often) on special guides, which at the same time serve as adjusting the height and are tightly fixed with special levers. The design looks solid and has a good range of adjustment through cuts on the guides. The armrests themselves are classified as 4D, which means the possibility of tuning the height, as well as movement in all directions: forward-back, from themselves-to themselves, turning left and right. It is not just convenient, but also helps to partially solve the problems of the ’s dimensions and the height of the table.
The frame of the chair is made with carbon steel and durable composite plastic. At the base of the chair, top -end class 4 Tüv gaslift is installed, which ensures durability and resistance to loads (up to 150 kg). Gazlift is installed in a high -quality aluminum base, neatly painted in glossy black. Huge (75mm) complete wheels made of dense, but at the same time sparing polyurethane and suitable for any surfaces are striking in the eyes.
I actively used the chair within two weeks, spending at least 12 hours a day in it, working with graphics and being distracted by the games. For a person of “standard” dimensions 176/85 (okay, I will be honest, there is a bit of excess) landing in the chair was very convenient, the same can be said about comfort as a whole. At first, a couple of hours will be required to study and memorize control elements, as well as adjusting the chair for yourself and for your workplace. It is also worth noting that the specificity of such seats lies in the compulsory landing of the in the correct position, so forget about some bad habits. It will not wean you from cigarettes, but you definitely will not want to sit with your feet in it.
As a result, I can confidently recommend the Freelancer W8 from Zone 51. This is a great chair for long sessions, both for work and for games. Simple assembly, solid structure, pleasant materials, good ergonomics and comfort. It is too early to talk about durability, but the three -year guarantee hints at a fairly high quality product. Perhaps the only thing that can scare away part of the buyers is the price. Not everyone is ready or can pay an amount comparable to the chair with a top game processor or a graphics card of the middle segment. However, iron comes and leaves, and it is better to protect health, and the sooner the better.
