MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XIV received 7.21 updates, adding a new type of content for craft and collective classes – cosmic examination (Cosmic Exploration). Players have to go to the moon in order to take part in the construction of the base and collect resources as part of a large -scale mission to master the new region. For access to the content, the completion of the main storyline to the Endwalker quest (Patch 7.0) and the presence of a collector or artisan of level 10 and higher are required.
Space examination is largely resemble the regime of the Island Sanctuary. For this activity, separate equipment is used, and all actions are controlled through a special interface in the form of a tablet. Through it you can track tasks, resources and activate missions, including, for example, to collect certain materials. Particular attention is paid to the cooperative mode of Mech OPS, in which one of the players controls a steppe, and the rest it using tools for resource production. Participants perform various tasks depending on the scale of deposits that require interaction.
Misses reward players with two types of currency: Cosmocredits and Lunar Credits. The first can be exchanged for useful items, and the second is used to participate in the Cosmic Fortunes mini-loser and the application for the role of the pilot of the walker. The Critical Missions mechanism is also implemented, activated under special weather conditions. During such events, meteors can be fought to the surface of the moon, for example, and the atmosphere is painted red. Participants are given a limited time to complete the tasks.
Every two days the system captures the contribution of players, asg the most active Star Contributor status. It operates for 14 days and gives visual bonuses, display a name on the Board of Honor and a holographic image of the character on the base. After the end of the period, the holder of status will not be able to claim it over the next two weeks.
In addition to the new mode, the update added the possibility of improving special tools. Their level of the item increases as the missions are fulfilled, even if they are not equipped. Promotion in content is monitored separately on each game world, and access to the lunar expedition is limited by the player’s home server.
Developers plan to develop space research in several stages. In future patches, three more regions are expected to add.
