The plot unfolds in an alternative world, where on the last day of 1999 a strange storm transferred humanity to a new era-the 1920s. In this new world, some people have a mystical force called Arkanum, which allows them to control the mechanics of reality. Players take upon themselves the role of guardians of the time, groups of people using Arkanum to travel in time and prevent disaster. They have to explore various eras, fight enemies and solve puzzles in order to save the world.
