Popular streamer and former professional Apex Legends player Danila “Sunset” Soloviev shared his thoughts on Deadlock, Valve’s new MOBA shooter. In an interview for Esports.ru he spoke about the first tournaments, his experience in the new discipline and the prospects of playing on the eSports scene.
Sunset itted that he moved to Deadlock after leaving Apex Legends, because “Russia was banned” and it was unprofitable to spend personal funds on travel to participate in the qualifications. He was drawn to Deadlock for its combination of MOBA aspects and unique implementation of character abilities, which reminded him of the early seasons of Overwatch.
Despite participating in tournaments from BetBoom, Sunset believes that the current results are not indicative, since public pages and unofficial leaderboards do not provide a complete understanding of the level of play. In his opinion, real conclusions can only be drawn after the release of the rating mode and the holding of official tournaments. However, he is confident that Deadlock will undergo significant changes by the time of release. We can already see changes to the game’s mechanics, such as the addition of trampolines, vertical ziplines, and new ways to use teleporters that were not present in the early stages. Sunset expects the developers to continue to make the map more difficult and make improvements to the laning stage, as the current meta seems too primitive to him.
At past tournaments, the Sunset team took 3-4 place, but he noted that this was influenced by the weak balance of the game and the high ping of his teammates. In general, Danila is confident that the release of Deadlock will be significantly different from the current version, and looks forward to the further development of the discipline.
