Former Nexon top manager Jung Sok MO will lead the global expansion of Smilegate

Smilegate Group was appointed by Jung Sok Mo, a former global operating room of Nexon, for the post of director for global business. He will oversee the international development of the Smilegate Holdings holding.

Jung Sok Mo is a recognized expert in the field of investment and corporate governance. He was educated at the University of Seoul, and he began his career in the Japanese office of Nexon in 2007. After working in investment companies, such as STEWARD PARTNERS and VIP Asset Management (founded by Kim Chong Zhu, founder of Nexon), he returned to Nexon in 2014 and took up the post of business development director, where he headed the company’s investment strategies.

He later became a member of the board and received the position of a global operating director. One of his key tasks was the coordination between the Japanese and South Korean offices of the company. In addition, he was one of the leaders of such companies as Devcat, Nitro Studio, Nexon US Holding Inc., Pixelberry Studios and Embark Studios. He was considered one of the potential candidates for the role of the next head of Nexon, but he left the company in 2024.

Now, a year after leaving Nexon, he ed Smilegate, where he will take a key role in international expansion. Kwon Hyok Bin, the founder of Smilegate and its visionary, actively promotes the strategy for expanding the company’s global presence not only by strengthening positions in the gaming industry, but also through access to new business segments. According to analysts, Smilegate was highly appreciated by the experience of Jung Sok Mo in investments, business development and its international relations, formed during the years of work in Nexon.
