The South Korean company NCSOFT, through its North -American NC West, announced strategic investments in the American independent game studio of EmptyVessel. This studio was founded in 2023 and includes immigrants from companies such as Activision, Disney, Microsoft and Naughty Dog. The developers previously took part in the creation of well -known projects, including Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, The Last of US, Borderlands, Tomb Raider and Uncharted.
Currently, EmptyVessel is working on its debut project called Defect – a tactical shooter with elements of cyberpunk, focused on the team game. The events of the game unfold in the last city of mankind, and the gameplay is built around PVP and cooperative tasks consisting of four people. Players have to participate in missions on smuggling weapons, eliminating goals and capturing suspects. The project is created on the Unreal Engine 5 engine for the PC platform. The first official trailer was presented in 2024.
The parties consider this investment agreement as the beginning of a long -term partnership, including a discussion of the conditions for the publication of Defect and other forms of cooperation.

Investments in EMPTYVESSEL have become part of a wider NCSoft strategy for the development of new directions. During 2024, the company also collaborated with such studios as Moon Rover Games (Sweden), Virtual Alchemy (Poland), Mistil Games and Big Game Studio (South Korea), providing investments and in the publication.
