KRAFTON, as well as its creative studio Unknown Worlds, have shared new information for the long-awaited Subnautica 2. The game promises expanded opportunities for players, as well as new mechanics and improvements that will bring the game even more immersions into mysterious underwater worlds.
One of the main innovations is the multiplayer co-op mode. Now players will be able to gather in teams of up to three people to explore the oceans of an alien planet, build bases, create items and survive. This feature was added to the game due to numerous requests from fans who actively demanded multiplayer after the release of the previous parts of the Subnautica series and Subnautica: Below Zero. Previously, fans had already developed and implemented their own modifications for multiplayer, which also influenced the developers’ decision to add this feature to the official version of the game.
In addition to multiplayer, Subnautica 2 will offer a new character and tool leveling system, which will allow players to develop their abilities more flexibly and survive in extreme conditions. Now in single player and co-op mode, s can experiment with different approaches and tactics, adapting their survival style to the unique conditions of the game.

The second part of the game also expands the underwater ecosystem, introducing new, dangerous and mysterious areas to explore. From deep underwater chasms and vibrant coral reefs to dark seascapes, each biome in the game will be unique, providing players with new challenges and opportunities for discovery.
The base building system has been greatly improved, allowing players to create more complex and personalized structures. New environmental hazards are introduced, such as temperature fluctuations in individual biomes. This will make survival even more intense and require players to make strategic decisions.
Subnautica 2 will be released in early access in 2025 through Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game . The developers plan to actively take into player to improve both the ecosystem and the game’s storyline. A full release may take place 2-3 years after the start of early access.
