Bandai Namco Online, which created the MMORPG Blue Protocol, will cease to exist when it is acquired by Bandai Namco Entertainment on April 1, 2025. The company was informed about this on November 20, 2024. The official reason is “in response to recent changes in the environment surrounding the gaming business” and with the goal of providing s with “high-quality content.” All projects currently served by Bandai Namco Online will be transferred to the parent company.
Bandai Namco Online was founded in 2009 and specialized in developing online games for various platforms, including PCs, smartphones and consoles. One of the latest projects was the MMORPG Blue Protocol, which failed in its homeland, and the global version was cancelled. Over the past couple of years, financial indicators turned out to be negative and there was no prospect of getting out of the current situation.
However, the Blue Protocol franchise continues to evolve as the visual style and overall ideas have attracted the attention of many players from all over the world. Currently, development is underway on the cross-platform Blue Protocol: Star Resonance from the Chinese studio Shanghai Bokura Network Technology.
