Nexus General Director (former Action Square) Chan Hyongguk in a recent interview with the Korean portal Inven shared the key areas of development of the company. He made the main emphasis in the conversation on the implementation of the American model of corporate governance, criticism of existing business models of the Korean gaming industry, as well as the role of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies in the transformation of Gamdev.
According to Chan, the basis of his management philosophy is the principle of priority of interests of shareholders and responsibility of leadership, borrowed from American corporate practice. He emphasized that the current management model in South Korea requires changes, since companies respond poorly to the inefficiency of top managers. At the same time, in his opinion, domestic public companies should strive for equal ing of the interests of all shareholders.
In relation to criticism of the American model as a short -term benefit, Chan gave examples of a long successful leadership in companies such as Apple, Jpmorgan and Microsoft to prove that the bet on a long -term strategy and innovation can be effective in the Korean context.
Special attention in the interview was paid to current business models in the game industry of South Korea. Chan criticized the model of conditionally paying monetization with aggressive donat, called by him “a sharp version of Free-to-Play,” and noted that such a model does not provide steady growth and does not cause confidence among investors. As an alternative, he proposed a “partial subscription” – a model that can extend the life cycle of the game and improve its prospects in the global market. In this context, he also noted the potential of blockchain technologies in the formation of an open intra-game economy controlled by the players themselves.
Chan separately stopped on the directions of AI integration into game products. He allocated three key applications: development automation (code, graphics, scenarios), a t game with AI and help s through AI-agents. Nexus is already working on such an agent who will manage the intra -game Zeny token in the Ragnarok: Monster World project. He will be able to interact with players on platforms like Telegram and Discord, helping with transactions and game actions. According to Chan, in the future, such AISSTRAS will become the core of a new game experience and will help to simplify interaction with game and blockchain systems.
Among the key partners of the company, he called Jake Song, the founder of Xlgames and one of the creators of Lineage and Baram. Chan expressed confidence that his deep understanding of the principles of decentralized game economies and signature models will have a significant impact on future Nexus projects.
The company also considers China as a promising direction. Despite the restrictions regarding the blockchain-IGR within the country, Chan noted the high interest of Chinese developers to enter the international market. In this regard, Nexus is already working on the localization and adaptation of one of the Chinese games with launching at the global level in the near future.
Speaking about finances, the head of the company said that there are currently no direct plans for an additional issue of shares, however, in the event of promising mergers and acquisitions, Nexus will be ready to consider options for attracting capital with the participation of shareholders.
Concluding the interview, Chan emphasized that the leadership of the company is leadership in the field of blockchain-game. According to him, the market is at the initial stage of development, but is already opening up opportunities for companies that are ready to offer s innovative solutions. As the main vector, he designated the creation of a platform where the American management model, partial subscription, blockchain and AI will unite the ecosystem with a stable economy and the players involved.
