At the Playx4 2025 exhibition, Boldplay Games presented a multi- heroic action player from the third person Black Stigma, combining firing from pistols and hand-to-hand tricks. The project has already ed six stages of testing and is at the final stage of creation.
The development of Black Stigma started in 2020, and the idea originated two years earlier. According to the head of the Kwon Dajo Studio, who previously participated in the creation of Point Blank, the film “John Wick” was the source of inspiration for the game. He noted that he wanted to move away from the traditional focus of the shooters on a distant battle with rifles and create something new due to the emphasis on the near contractions. It was after watching John Wick that he had a concept in which the main attention is paid to the interaction between pistol firing and combat techniques.
The gameplay is built exclusively around the pistols. There are no other weapons classes in Black Stigma, but existing can be configured and modified. Each character corresponds to their parameters: more miniature heroes use smaller caliber pistols, and large – powerful models. These features, according to the developer, directly affect the balance, and numerous reviews of the players were taken into during tests.
Kwon said that a team of less than 30 people had to go through many iterations. For example, one of the complaints of the testers concerned the inimity of “interrupting” the animation of the counterattack through evasion – the system was redesigned taking into these comments. As a result, the game reached the desired balance between novelty and familiar mechanics. Much has changed in comparison with early assemblies, including after participating in the Games Festival, from where the fidback mass also came.
It is expected that the game will offer different modes, including the recently added team battle “6 to 6”, created specifically at the request of players who want to receive the maximum action in a quick and affordable format.
