The release of ArcheAge Chronicles has been postponed to 2026 – The authors are deliberately reducing PvP content in the game

As part of its third quarter 2024 financial report, Kakao Games announced some sad news for fans of MMORPG games. Firstly, it became known that the release of ArcheAge Chronicles has been postponed to the first half of 2026. It’s likely that the development schedule that was reported in August is still behind schedule. Closed testing of the game is still planned for the second or third quarter of 2025.

There are no reports of transfers or delays related to Chrono Odyssey: the release is scheduled for the second half of 2025, and closed testing of the game will take place in the first quarter.

The second news concerns two expected games at once: ArcheAge Chronicles and Chrono Odyssey. Han Sang-woo, CEO of Kakao Games, stated the following:

“Although ArcheAge Chronicles and Chrono Odyssey were billed as MMORPGs, both games strive to become action role-playing games, which are the main genre in the global market. We are radically removing or reducing content such as large-scale faction battles and PvP conflicts that are typically associated with the MMORPG genre.”

This is consistent with past statements that “ArcheAge 2 is an MMORPG, but with an emphasis on single-player play with individual content and story.” However, some s still don’t believe that they won’t be able to enjoy the PvP content that caught their attention in the original ArcheAge.

But at the same time, there is good news – these games will not have P2W elements. All equipment and consumable items can be obtained simply by playing the game and completing tasks. And making a profit will be based primarily on the sale of access to games and paid DLC. At the moment, all the intricacies of financial issues are being discussed, and details will be announced closer to the release.

The company’s lineup also included a place for the approximate release date of the MMORPG Project Q — third quarter of 2025. It was announced that Kakao Games will become the publisher of this game on November 4, 2024.
